Composer-in-ResidenceAlain is a composer originally from the Eastern Townships of Quebec who has called Burnaby his home for over 10 years now. Active both in the concert and film worlds, his most recent film score was for the animated feature film “The Legend of Silk Boy” starring international star Jackie Chan. The score was recorded with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in Taipei, who were recommended to him by maestro Ken Hsieh. The score was released on CD through Movie Score Media. (www.moviescoremedia.com) As a concert composer, Alain combines elements from all eras of the concert repertoire with elements of rock, funk and jazz into a style that is unique, smart and fun. “Alain is a truly gifted composer of his generation who composes music that incorporates lots of contemporary elements, and yet manages to attract both the musicians and audiences, which is extremely rare today.” The composer looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the VMO.
