The VMO has been fortunate to engage International winner of many competitions and an original Vancouverite pianist, Ryo Yanagitani, who has now launched a very successful piano career. He will be coming in from Washington DC to perform the beautiful popular Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto no. 2, and the Orchestra will be concluding the concert with Tchaikovsky’s mighty Symphony No.4, known as “fate.” As this is the 20th Anniversary concert, the VMO has commissioned composer-in-residence, Allan Mulldoon Wong to compose a world premiere commission to celebrate this festive opening concert.
