Tristan Lambert

Bassoon

Tristan Lambert began playing the bassoon at age 11, motivated by his love for Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. He played with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra a year later. Tristan went on to pursue his Master of Music at UBC. He has studied with Jesse Read, Julia Lockhart, Ken Wagner and Christopher Millard. He has participated in Master Classes with Alex Klein, Roger Cole, Frank Morelli, Martin Kuuskmann, and Bertrand Raoulx. Tristan loves to introduce his audiences to the delicate and subtle beauty of the bassoon by transcribing and playing works that are not normally found in the bassoonist’s repertoire, including Mozart’s Oboe Quartet by Mordechai Rechtman, the Deuxième Concert by Montéclair (arranged by Jesse Read) and his own transcription of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto (which he premiered at his graduation recital in May 2011) to name a few. This season will be Tristan’s third season with the VMO.
