GREETING FROM OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR

Welcome! It is my privilege to welcome you to the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra Society’s 2010-2011 Season. You are about to enter a special website that describes a very unique orchestra in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The 2009-2010 Season had been a spectacular one, especially with our continuation in promoting Asian Music with Grace Lee, our Annual Chamber Orchestra concert, the Morihiro Okabe Memorial Concert, and of course the Nutcracker ballet production with Goh Ballet.

As I enter my eighth year as Music Director and Conductor with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, I have always remembered that this orchestra grew from an idea that a collaborative and supportive environment creates the best opportunity for musical and artistic growth. Here at VMO we are strongly committed to providing opportunities for young musicians to perform and work with local artists in professional settings.

We are most grateful to each and every one of our sponsors and audiences without their help and support we could not continue to carry on.

We hope that you will enjoy the spectacular music in the 2010-2011 season and continue to support these young soon-to-be professional musicians whom will soon make their transition into the professional world under the mentorship and guidance of professional musicians. We are thrilled again to be joining Festival on the Lakes in their concerto gala featuring winners of the prestigious competition, as well as supporting the World Harp Congress 2011 in Vancouver.
